The Greater Houston Foreclosure Prevention Task Force Information and Events
The Greater Houston Foreclosure Prevention Taskforce acts as a conduit between Greater Houston area residents, mortgage servicers, public and non-profit agencies dedicated to providing free counseling, support and resources for those citizens in, or potentially facing foreclosure.
The Greater Houston Foreclosure Prevention Task Force is curently comprised of the following organizations.
Bank of America – Bank of America serves clients in more than 150 countries and has a relationship with 99 percent of the U.S. Fortune 500 companies
Chase Bank – a leading global financial services firm with assets of $2.1 trillion
City of Houston – City government of the the fourth-largest city in the United States with a population of 2.2 million within an area of 600 square miles.
City of Pasadena – The second largest city in Harris county and the 15th largest city in Texas.
Credit Coalition – A nonprofit organization formed by community groups, individuals, financial institutions, credit bureaus, and corporations to address credit education, housing, and small business issues facing our community. The Coalition’s purpose is to help identify problems and to help people obtain credit by offering education and outreach services.
Fannie Mae – The Federal National Mortgage Association, Fannie Mae is a government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) chartered by Congress with a mission to provide liquidity, stability and affordability to the U.S. housing and mortgage markets.
FDIC, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation – Federal deposit insurance protects the first $250,000 of deposits that are payable in the United States.
Houston Branch, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas – As part of our nation’s central bank, the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve serves a 41-county area in Southeast Texas. The Federal Reserve was created by Congress to maintain sound money, sustainable economic growth, and a healthy financial system.
GMAC ResCap – a wholly owned subsidiary of GMAC Financial Services providing mortgage and home equity-related investment opportunities for institutional investors and credit for mortgage lenders and commercial borrowers.
Gulf Coast Community Service Associates – GCCSA is one of the largest community action agencies in Texas. Since 1965, we have helped over 500000 needy families.
Lone Star Legal Aid – provides free civil legal assistance to low-income individuals and families who have immediate needs but cannot afford an attorney.
Money Management International – Nonprofit organization that provides financial guidance, credit counseling, and educational programs to help consumers regain financial control.
NID Housing Counseling Agency – NID-HCA works with non-profits, public agencies and faith-based organizations regarding housing and affordable housing programs in their local communities.
Tejano Center – Mission is to improve life opportunities of low-income children and families through education, social and health services, and community development initiatives.
Wells Fargo – The largest financial institution headquartered in the western U.S.; in the top 20 among all U.S. companies in profits and market value.
Facing the Mortgage Crisis is a collaboration of HoustonPBS, the United Way of Greater Houston, Houston Community Newspapers and the Greater Houston Foreclosure Prevention Task Force to help people facing foreclosure stay in their home by providing access to information about FREE services available in our community.Click here to watch the Facing the Mortgage Crisis Townhall meeting.
